Happy 40th birthday to the cell phone

In 1973 Martin Cooper made a phone call and changed the world. He stood outside the New York Hilton on Sixth Avenue and made the world’s first cell phone call. The former Motorola Vice President used the opportunity to taunt his competitor – calling Joel Engel at Bell Labs, the company he had just beaten in the race to build the first cell phone.

“Joel, this is Marty. I’m calling you from a cell phone. A real handheld portable phone.”
Most of us didn’t see a cell phone until 1987, when Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) made a call on what looked like a suitcase attached to a military walkie-talkie in Lethal Weapon. Those first models weighed three pounds and cost around $100 a month, plus tolls. The bulky device made possible the amazing gadgets we now take for granted.

Warner Bros.

“I was working at Koons Ford in Baltimore. A salesman came in to sell the ‘brick’ to the staff,” said Ruth, an office manager in Maryland. “I was so intrigued by it that I bought one for my husband. He was a real estate salesman. We thought we were on top of the world,” she said, adding that she sent that quote from her iPad.

It sounds primitive until you consider it has been 137 years since Alexander Graham Bell made the first telephone. On March 10, 1876, the inventor called his assistant, Thomas Watson. “Mr. Watson,” he said. “Come here. I want to see you.”

If Bell were to make that call today it is likely Watson would answer it on a cell phone he bought himself. A new survey by RingCentral found that 70% of us use mobile phones to communicate for work. Nearly half are using their own phone instead of the 24% who got one from the boss. The survey was inspired by the 40-year anniversary of the cell phone. It reveals surprises in how we communicate in the workplace and the generational divide in phone behavior. For instance:
* 200,000 text messages were sent every second in 2012
* 61% of people under 40 report never using a phone book, in any circumstance. (The first phone book, issued in 1878, was 20 pages and instructed users to "commence the conversation by saying, ‘Hulloa!’")
* 41% of people under 25 hate when you don’t pick up the phone after you just texted them.
* 60% of people older than 40 still have a traditional home phone, while 69% under 40 use their mobile phone as their home phone.
* 60% of people have their email addresses plus four separate phone numbers on their business cards.
* 3% of those surveyed have resigned from a job via text.

Alexander Graham Bell

It seems impossible that Cooper could envision such a world when he made that fist call 40 years ago. But he did. Still considered a rock star in the industry, Cooper saw a future where the technology would liberate us. He called his invention the “personal telephone.” As reported in The Atlantic, he regarded the device “something that would represent an individual, so you could assign a number not to a place, not to a desk, not to a home, but to a person.” Did he succeed? Financially, the numbers don’t lie. Most of us have cell phones and the industry has become an arms race to bring new tech to a market that craves it. But not everyone believes in his prophecy that the cell phone would liberate us.

“I think they have been taken so far that they allow horrible acts to be performed more easily,” said Wendy, a school teacher whose opinion comes from the front lines of educating teenagers. “Sexting, remote detonated bombs, the inability of our teens to communicate face-to-face. Not to mention GPS tracking linked to photos posted online. It’s like handing the keys to your car to a very tall five year old.”

“How many automobile crashes have we had because of distracted drivers," said Caryn, who works for a state motor vehicle administration. She sees the dangerous side of cell phone use. "How about the train operator who derailed the train and killed folks because he was texting?”

On the other hand is Emily, a mother from Maryland who believes the technology makes important moments possible.

“The FBI may not have caught the Boston suspect as quickly if they didn't have all that cell phone camera footage,” she said. “And, on 9/11, many of those who perished were able to call their loved ones to say goodbye.”

Why I Sleep In A Coffin- Charly Boy

Nigerian controversial entertainer, Charly Boy recently revealed why he sometimes sleep in a casket.

Read his reasons, including responses to his fans’ criticisms below.

Sleeping in a Coffin?
Point of correction, I do not sleep in a casket, I sleep on my bed, it’s big and comfy, I only lay in my “casket”when I do my meditation because it helps me to be focused, it tells me more about the imminence of death. My casket is a reminder. It wakes me up from slumber. It tells me, “guy, you have got little or no time left, wake up, be creative and work”.

Of course, when I read some of the comments of my people, I know a good number of us are ill-informed about quite a number of things. I think it is more of what the casket represents that shocks my people and they start reading meanings into it, depending on their level of understanding. But one question is, what if the same wood that was used to build the casket was used to make a sofa chair? May be, all the hullabaloo about me sitting on a chair wouldn’t have been there in the first place? So when people vocalize their disapproval of my message via the image of a casket,  I understand that they do that from a position of Fear, fear of what the casket represents – Death. So whatever people fear they antagonize. But, the fact that I have reminded myself and even you about death does not really change a thing. It won’t draw your death near, and it won’t even shift it away. All it does is simply a reminder, to tread carefully.

My Coffin sensitizes
Only if a kidnapper can buy a casket for himself today, and begin to lay inside, constantly reminding himself that death looms even as he goes about kidnapping and extorting money from families. It’s possible to realize at a point that all his activities will one day end up in a casket, and there, his flesh will rotten. The same is applicable to all evil doers. They need to realize, like in the famous book, “Waiting for Godot” that the world is bizarre and empty, as vanity plus vanity will always end up in vanity. Crime no dey pay jor.

photo

My Coffin preaches:
Take a critical look at my image inside the coffin, it speaks volume. I always lay in my casket with my cap, glasses, shoes on. I’m always well dressed. Yes, it is always done intentionally to tell us that your glory disappears with all the wealth you must have acquired the very day you go to that coffin. Your glory-your cap goes with you, your vision-your glasses goes with you; your struggle-your shoes goes with you. The only thing left of you is your history and your legacy. The crux of the message is to leave a legacy, so we can live forever, not in the physical, but in people’s memories.  As for me, I will live forever. You dey vex???

We are blind because of our fears
Who knows what any of us sees from the privacy of our own blindness? Make no mistakes, each of us is blind in a particular way, just as each of us is sighted uniquely. Consider how each of us is blinded by what we fear. If we fear heights, we are blind to the humility vast perspectives bring. If we fear Passion, we are blind to the comfort of Oneness. If we fear change, we are blind to the abundance of life. If we fear death, we are blind to the mystery of the unknown. And since to fear is something thoroughly human, to be blind is unavoidable. It is what each of us must struggle to overcome.

To a large degree, I have overcome my fear of death, all I ask God, is that may my death not be painful. I’m sure some of you know how my cousin who was killed by kidnappers died an agonizing death. You see, in the course of our lives, we all stumble and struggle, repeatedly, in and out of relationship, in and out of the grace of the hidden wholeness of life, most of us struggle and stumble with the uncertainty of tomorrow as Nigerians.

I have discovered that in the course of our lives, and as blind children, we may never know what we are called to be until we have learned what we are called to become by simply overcoming our fears. In life, death is the most important reminder of all activities. Abi you dey vex???

Baby merchants: NSCDC arrests 32 pregnant teenagers in Abia baby factory

Thirty-two pregnant teenagers at various stages of their pregnancies have been arrested in Umuzue community in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

They were arrested together with the owner of the home, Mrs Nnenna Mba and two male workers on April 2, 2013 following a tip-off. The girls , whose ages range between 10 and 20 were believed to have run to the home after getting pregnant without the knowledge of their parents or were impregnated at the home by visiting males employed by the proprietor of the home.

Speaking to Daily Sun at the office of the NSCDC, the Commandant, Mr Ben E. Dikuro said that his men stormed the home and arrested the teenage girls and the proprietor on Tuesday.

“We gathered from a tip-off that girls who get pregnant are lured to the home with rosy promises of compensation when they deliver. Also young girls who needed money are also convinced to get pregnant and deliver the child and be paid some amount of money.

The young girls are also allowed to sleep with some of the men they brought to the home. Anyone who delivers a girl is paid N80,000 and the child is sold by the owner of the home for N400,000. But if a girl delivered a boy, she was paid N100,000.

While the boy would be sold to those that need them for N450,000. “Our investigation revealed that she has been operating the home since 2009 but was able to register it in 2012. The aim of the registration was to run the outlet as a home for the less privileged, but she was hiding under that cover to perpetrate atrocities. All the girls we caught there are at various stages of pregnancy.

We have gone to the Ministry of Women Affairs and discovered that her registration is different from what she is doing.” The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Mr Victor Ogbonna advised parents to take good care of their female children just like the males.

“You can imagine, this type of girls that should be responsible to their parents being lured into the business of baby making just for money.

The cause of all these is poverty and lack of orientation. You see children going into illegalities and evil to survive. The parents of these girls should know that as the boys are important, so are the girls and should be able to give them attention. My advice to the young girls is that they should keep away from bad friends.

It is all about societal influence. Everybody wants to make it big , not minding how it is made. Almost all of them are pregnant, cant you see?” the PRO said. The proprietor of the home, Mrs. Mba, who spoke to Daily Sun argued that she was not doing any illegal thing.

She said her ordeal was the handiwork of her enemies who were not happy that she was running a legal outfit. “I registered this home with Ministry of Women Affairs in December 2012, the Women Affairs came and inspected the place and certified it fit. The area we are attending to the girls is the social aspect of our job.

I have never sold any baby since we started. Many of them were conscious before coming to us, they were not hoodwinked into coming and they didn’t sign any document for us as agreement.

If any of them delivers and they want to give out their child, it will be a matter between them and the authorities that are in charge of adoption. We only act as intermediaries.
They are all conscious. I did not force them, I am a qualified nurse.”

Jonathan Grants Amnesty To Boko Haram Sect

Indications emerged last night that President Goodluck Jonathan may have resolved to declare amnesty for the Boko Haram sect.

This was the outcome of a meeting between the president and the leadership of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) at the presidential villa, Abuja.

This is even as Jonathan has summoned a security meeting with chiefs in the country, which will be held today at the presidential villa.

Jonathan also used the occasion to deny ever ruling out amnesty for the sect.
The president is expected to set up an amnesty commission to fine- tune details of clemency to the sect members.

Former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Prof Ango Abdullahi, told State House Correspondents after the meeting which ended at about11:30pm that the president’s response to the call for amnesty at the meeting, which is sequel to the one held between the president and the NEF in May last year, was positive and that he assured the NEF delegation that the amnesty for the insurgents will be tabled before the security meeting today.

Abdullahi said, “The meeting is simply a follow-up visit on the invitation of Mr. President. Many of you will recall that about eight or nine months ago, we interacted with the president on matters of the nation.
We submitted a memorandum to him and he promised that he was going to look at our submission and he will call us back to further dialogue on the issues we have raised in ou submission. Ans this is precisely what transpired today.

“The contention here that there are challenges in the country, especially in the area of security which is the greatest challenge.

What we discussed is that general opinion in the country is that amnesty should be factored into all effort made by government to overcome the security challenges all over the country or in most parts of the North.
Fortunately the president is already thinking hard on it.

And he assured us that there is a special meeting on the matter and that I’m sure that  tomorrow something substantial will come out of that meeting”.

Corroborating Abdullahi’s disclosure, information minister, Labarn Maku also said the president has never said no to the issue of amnesty, adding that what the president is saying is that, just like in the case of Niger Delta, some structures and processes have to be in place before the amnesty option is fully explored.
The minister further explained that the insurgents need to be identified and come forward before the dialogue that would lead to the amnesty programme is put in place.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the president intention for convening the meeting was to to give a listening ear to the umbrella body of Northern elders to clarify on issues partaining to clamour for the amnesty for the sect and why he may have been reluctant to consider calls by a section of Nigerians that he should declare amnesty for the sect.

Spiritual leaders from the North, including the Sultan of Sokoto,  Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III had appealed to the president to consider granting amnesty to the deadly group, with his  position receiving a boost from the Arch Bishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan during the Easter period.
But the president had kept mum over the matter since after his encounter with elders of Borno and Yobe States respectively after a town hall meeting with them during his two weeks working visit to the epicenters of the Boko Haram.

It was learnt that the president may have deemed it necessary to pour out his mind before the NEF , to let them understand his earlier position that members of the insurgents must present themselves before him to enable him know who he is actually dialoguing with, as he was not ready to grant amnesty to ghosts.

The president’s declaration early March this year in Borno and Yobe had elicited a lot of mixed reactions, with most prominent citizens from the Northern region accusing president of insensitivity to the plight of people from the region that have suffered great loss due to the gory and gruesome activities of the sect.

Present at the meeting were leader of the group, Yusuf Maitama Sule, Paulen Tallen, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, Kali Gazali, Safiya Mohammed, Solomon Dualong, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu,  Shehu Malami, John Wash Pam, Lawal  Kaita, Bello Kirfi, Paul Unongo, Al-amin Daggash, Sani Zango Daura, N.A. Sheriff, Yahaya Kwande, Saleh Hassan, Muslim Maigari, Bashir Yusuf, Gen Paul Tarfa, Justice Mustapha  Akanbi, Prof Idris Mohammed, Capt Paul Tahal and Capt Bashir Sodangi.

Women Cut Girl With Blade In Fight For Choirmaster’s Love (SEE PHOTO)

Two women – Temitope Abigeal and Temitope Remi – have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ebute Meta on a three count of conspiracy, assault and grievous harm.

Abigeal (26) and Remi (28), choristers at a Cherubim and Seraphim church at Progressive Road, Ebute Meta, were alleged to have assaulted Hannah Okurabe (18) with razor blades at Abule Nla junction, a few metres away from the church.

The March 17, 2013 incident was said to be the result of an earlier fight over the church’s choirmaster, Joseph Unuigbe.

A father of two, Unuigbe is married to Folashade, who is also a member of the same church.

The defendants who pleaded not guilty to the charges, made a bail application through their counsel identified simply as Mr Chukwudi.

But the prosecutor, Mr. Ishola Samuel, objected to the bail application, saying that the complainant was presently admitted to the Lagos Island General Hospital.

However, the Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, ruled that the charge was a bailable offence and granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each while they are to produce two responsible sureties who must be relatives with verifiable addresses. Also, the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payments to the state government in the last three years.

The case was adjourned to April 17 2013.

The suspects are said to be currently remanded at the Kirikiri Minimum Prison.

SHOCKING: Man allegedly Pays N80,000 To Two men To Rape his Own Sisters

The man said he wanted his sisters tortured because they refused to forfeit their inheritance.

For facilitating the rape of two of his sisters in Ijebu Ososa, Ogun State, a 40-year-old suspect was on Monday arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known to journalists in Abeokuta, adding that the suspect was arrested with two other persons.

“The two other persons arrested with the 40-years-old man are those who eventually raped and robbed the two sisters aged 18 and 16.

“He gave the two suspects N80, 000, to harass, molest and threaten his two younger sisters who had disagreed with him over sharing formula of their late parent’s inheritance,” Mr. Adejobi said.

“You can speak with him as he had already confessed to the crime, so it’s a very straight forward case and we are charging three of them to court tomorrow, “he said.

When the reporter asked, the suspect admitted to committing the crime.

“I just asked them (two other suspects) to threaten my sisters so that they can leave the properties to me; I never paid then to rape my sisters as they have done,” he claimed.

Lekan Saibu invited the rapists. The alleged rapists are Jonathan Kaigbon and Gbenga Adekoya.

In another development, the command also paraded three other persons for allegedly operating an illegal financial institution in Remo area of the state.

Mr. Adejobi said that information available to the command showed that the suspects did not have the license to operate.

“They have also confessed to the crime and would be charged to court as soon as possible,” Mr. Adejobi said.

Pictures Of Three University Runs Girls Beheaded And Thrown Out Of A Range Rover (UPDATE)

This is why people always preach that ladies should be careful with their craze for materialism, but some people just don't want to listen. Sleeping with strange rich men for money is very dangerous.

Three corpses of female students whose heads have been beheaded was thrown from a Range Rover sport jeep at Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan road on Monday morning by men suspected to be their Sugar Daddies.

Another suspected terrorists hide out discovered in Lagos

Fresh facts emerged, Monday, on the presence of more illegal aliens suspected to be terrorists in Ijora area of Lagos, as information at Vanguard’s disposal revealed that the suspects, who are Malians and Chadians, were occupying a three-storey building owned by a state government.
Last Thursday’s raid by the Department of State Security, DSS, and men of OP Messa, led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists and recovery of arms and explosives in a building on Aromire Street, Ijora.
However, investigations revealed that the three story-building alleged to be used by the suspected terrorists is also located on Aromire Street, Ijora, close to the house that was raided last week.
Monarch raises alarm
Lagos monarch, Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Aremu, who spoke when traditional heads of major northern tribes resident in Lagos, led by the Seriki Hausa of Lagos State, Alhaji Sani Kadiri Garuba, visited him in his palace, said it would have been a case of the worse casualties in the history of bombings in the country.
He blamed the government that owns the building for the development. The monarch said: “You see, this problem comes from the state government that owns that property. If you go to the house in Ijora, you will see all these Malians there.
“They are squatters and we have written to the state government concerned several times without any response. Ask the Area Commander and the DPO, they will tell you. On our part, we are trying our best.”
Without mincing word, the monarch urged the Seriki Hausa of Lagos to call his people, particularly those in Ijora to order, saying “I am not happy with what happened because your people have been living with us here since. I have been here since 1994 and this kind of thing had never happened.
“We have been taking your people as brothers and sisters. You don’t have to turn back and do this kind of thing to us. Do something because I am not happy at all. Since that day (last Thursday), I have not been sleeping. Please, let this stop. I am giving them warning. Ijora is a no-go area for them.
“If they still remain in Ijora, I will flush them out, Insha Allah. They should not use Ijora as a base. Ijora is not a base for criminals. I do not tolerate nonsense. Please, I am giving them warning again, they should leave my domain. My domain is not meant for criminals. I am talking to you (Seriki).
“Please, call your men to order. Lagos is a no go area for bombings. These people referred to as Malians, Nigeriens live with your people. Please, talk to your Serikis.”
Seriki Arewa speaks
Earlier, the Seriki Hausa and Chairman, council of Arewa chiefs in Lagos, explained that the purpose of the visit was to commiserate with Oba Oyeyinka on what he described as a sad incident, and to pledge the solidarity of northerners under the Arewa councils of chiefs as peace-loving people.
He said: “We will also like to seize this opportunity to emphasise that for intensive security in our nation, we appeal to the Federal Government to do more. Although it is trying its best to check the menace, we urge them to intensify and broaden their security scope, so that this kind of thing will never happen again.
“Lagos is a mini Nigeria and anything that happened to Lagos will affect the whole nation. Finally, I will like to also appeal to other agencies and nationalities with the state to be calm and patient as we continue to live in harmony with each other.”
93 suspects handed over to Immigration
Meantime, a total of 93 illegal aliens were, yesterday, handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Alagbon, Ikoyi, for onward prosecution.
The aliens, whose mission in the country could not be ascertained, were mainly Malians, Nigeriens and Chadians.
Their arrest followed a raid by joint security operatives following the discovery of a suspected terrorists’ hideout in Ijora area of Lagos, last Thursday.
Confirming the arrest, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. Muyiwa Odunubi, said the suspects would be paraded tomorrow by the Command.
He said: “I can confirm to you that we received 93 suspected Boko Haram members, who were handed over to us by the Police and other security agencies.”

Gunmen kill 25, free 120 inmates in Adamawa

Suspected Islamist gunmen have launched a series of gun and bomb attacks in a remote town along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, killing at least 25 people, and freed 120 prison inmates, police have said.
The gunmen carried out four simultaneous assaults on Ganye in Adamawa State on Friday, opening fire on a bar, a bank, a prisoner warder and separately attacking a prison, Mohammed Ibrahim, police spokesman for Adamawa police command said.
“Twenty-five people were killed in four different simultaneous attacks by gunmen in Ganye,” he said.
Members of insurgent group Boko Haram were the prime suspects, he said. Violence by Islamist insurgents in northern Nigeria is on the rise again after a brief lull.
Three bombs exploded in Kano on Saturday, Kano State police spokesman, Magaji Majiya, said by telephone.
One of the bombings was a suicide attack, but did not claim any lives apart from those of the bombers.
However, a remote control bomb targeting a joint military and police checkpoint wounded several police, he said.
A separate gun attack in Dakata  killed one person on Saturday, he said.
Majiya said four people had been arrested in connection with the attacks

Man harassed for having female organs

Man harassed for having female organs

Have you ever seen someone with both male and female organs? Well if you have not, Saturday Tribune ran into one last Wednesday at Sapele, Delta State.

A man in his late 40s, who refused to utter a word despite the hysteria his presence generated, was almost lynched by a mob but for the intervention of police and other security agents.

The man, whose name could not be ascertained as of press time, was discovered to possess a full grown pair of breasts, which dangled from his chest, just like those of a young woman.

An angry mob was going for the kill when security operatives were quickly drafted to the scene. Their (mob) grouse was that it was strange and unacceptable that a man would possess dual sex organs.

Young men near a filling station at the Sapele-Warri/New Road junction tore the man’s clothes, and revealed a very small male organ, allegedly with no scrotum – which to them suggested that he was a hermaphrodite.

Saturday Tribune gathered from some onlookers who claimed to know the man that he had been seeking spiritual solutions to his problem by moving from one church to another.

It was further learnt that at one of the churches, he started manifesting some strange behaviours while for some time he hid his male and female sexual organs from church officials who later found out his status as a hermaphrodite.

The voice and face of the man were masculine even as he was said to also have female reproductive organs.

Men of the Nigeria Police in Sapele, and the other security operatives who were drafted to scene, quickly dislodged the irate mob, who were taking turns to fiddle with the man’s sex organs, ostensibly to further confirm their suspicions that the man was really a freak.

He was thereafter spirited away by the police to the Sapele Police Station for protective custody and investigations.

..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

A first look at the man's face, one can tell that he was saddened and pained by the injustice melted on him as he didn't commit any punishable offence against mortals.

It rips my heart that despite having lots of institutions of learning in every nook and cranny in the country, the vast majority are still ignoramus as they don't even need to be informed that the man has nothing to do with the subject-matter in the very first instance. (No offence intended)

Yes he has dual private organs of both male and female but since when did that become an offence to mortals? What is our business? Even if the man had committed any punishable offence, don't we have people whose duty is to arrest and prosecute such a person? What is the essence of having security officers if they can't be allowed to take care of such issues?

I beg us in the name of God/Allah to quit the abysmal idea of always taking the law into our own hands, this man is innocent, anyone can be in his shoes, that you don't have both male and female organs is to the credit of God, those who were mocking and humiliating him have offended God. I'm not happy with this show of shame.

At this juncture, our lawmakers should see if they can come up with a law to prohibit people from taking the law into their own hands and enforce such, it should also be an offence to watch a fellow Nigerian being treated unjustly, if not for the sudden intervention of the security officers, they would have murdered him. It is no news that such an act has become the order of the day, thus something has to be done to nip this menace in the bud.

REVEALED!!! Abia Gang-Rap3: Suspects Are Husband’s Cousins – Police

The Police in Rivers State, yesterday, said they had unravelled the celebrated gang-rape case which allegedly took place at the Abia State University, ABSU, Uturu.

According to the police the incident actually took place in Obite town in Etche Council Area of Rivers State. The victim was also found to be married while the suspects are her husband’s cousins.

The investigation was prompted by a social media record of an incident where four men gang-raped a girl allegedly at ABSU.

According to the Police, three of the suspects have been charged to Magistrate Court 9, Port Harcourt.

The information was contained in the Nigeria Police newspaper, The Dawn, of March 11-24, 2013 edition.

According to the report, detectives from the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department, working on intelligence report on September 7, 2012, traced the husband of the victim code-named Mr. S from Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The report said Mr. S confirmed that the victim was his wife and that the perpetrators of the act were from his community.

The report said “after painstakingly tracing the identity of the suspects, it led to their arrest. They are Uchenna Ukulor, Chizoba Nwosu and Nwazuo Nmezi, while the fourth person is on the run.”

In the report, the police were quoted as saying that the suspects and the husband of the victim were invited and the video clip was played for them which clearly established that three of them with another at large committed the crime.

The suspects, the report further said, are cousins to the husband of the victim.

"I Beat My Wife Because Of Her Lover’s Text Message"

A trader, Mr Kayode Eremiye, 46, on Wednesday said he beat up his wife when he discovered a text message another man sent to her on “the good time” they had together.

Eremiye was responding before an Agege Customary Court, Lagos, in a suit brought by his wife, Adedoyin, seeking dissolution of their 11-year-old marriage on the grounds of battery and adultery.

“I was mad on the day I saw a message sent to her phone by her lover, revealing how he made passionate love to her.

“My wife is adulterous and always keeps late nights; there are countless love text messages on her phone,” he said.

Eremiye, however, told the court that in spite of the problem, he still loved his wife dearly and did not want a divorce.

“She is the love of my life and I still love her very much; she loves me and I know it but she is just confused.

“There was a day I saw a text she sent to her lover that if he did not want her anymore, he should allow her return to her problem at home.

“Despite the fact that she has packed out of my house, we still see secretly; she still sleeps in my house without the knowledge of our families.

“I still love her and I want the court to plead with her on my behalf,” he said.

The petitioner, Adedoyin, who lives at 11, Abeokuta St., Ogba, Lagos, had told the court that her husband used planks to beat her.

Adedoyin said that her husband also caned her and was not taking care of their two children aged 10 and 14.

“My husband is too jealous; he always felt insecure, trailing my movement and monitoring me whenever I went out or to work.

“Anytime I made the mistake of getting home at (as late as) 7:00 p.m., I was severely beaten and was not allowed to sleep in the house.

“My husband once beat me up when I was six months pregnant,” she said.

The petitioner also claimed that her husband kept chains of girlfriends and she knew them.

“Some of them threatened me on phone, while one even claimed she had a child for him,’’ she said.

The Court President, Mr Emmanuel Sokunle, told the couple to maintain the peace and adjourned the case till April 8 for further hearing.

39 Year old Man born without Manhood to get one

Surgeons will give 39-year-old Andrew Wardle, from Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, a new joystick from skin and nerves from his forearm after he was born without a manhood.
Mr Wardle was born with a rare defect which meant his bladder formed outside his body and deprived him of a joystick. Andrew was born with an ectopic bladder, meaning it formed on the outside of his body. He had testicles but not a joystick and, while he had a successful operation as a child to move his bladder to where it should be, his lack of manhood remained.
But all that is set to change after surgeons at University College London agreed to a complicated three-part operation, involving the transfer of skin from his forearm.
Despite his lack of joystick, Mr Wardle has still been a hit with the ladies, claiming to have slept with more than 100.’Some were one-night stands, some long-term relationships. I’ve told 20 per cent of them the truth,’ he said.’The fact I didn’t just want to get my leg over made me more attractive to women. I had charm and patter because it wasn’t all about s*x.’
It was when he became interested in girls as a teenager that problems keeping his secret began. The only physical sensation he felt with women were butterflies in his stomach but his first girlfriend at 17 was understanding when he explained the situation to her and they dated for four years before eventually splitting because she ‘wanted to experience things I was unable to do’. Andrew hope to live a normal life after the surgery
He plans to write a book about his ordeal and train as a counselor.
